LONDON, May 10, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --
- A two-year research initiative sponsored by IBM
Chartis, the leading provider of research and analysis for risk management technology, today announced that it has launched a two-year research program focused exclusively on the enablers for enterprise risk management. The research will be sponsored by IBM and will cover key enablers such as culture, organizational structure, data, systems, and processes. Over 50 leading organizations across the globe have already confirmed their participation in Chartis's focus groups to provide input into the research regarding key trends, best practices, challenges, and priorities.
The two-year study will include a quarterly series of surveys, eliciting input from risk, compliance, and technology practitioners, as well as key stakeholders from business lines. This will be a global research initiative and will include many different sectors including financial services, industrials, and government.
"We believe that there are now many firms across the globe with good awareness of enterprise risk management," comments Peyman Mestchian, Managing Partner at Chartis Research. "However, recent history has shown that mere awareness, often driven by regulatory pressures, does not necessarily lead to better risk management. Our research suggested that there is a knowledge gap in the marketplace regarding the practical challenges of enterprise risk management. Over the next two years, our research will focus on the key enablers and will drill down on the specific capabilities needed to move from theory to execution."
"Our clients understand that risk management is now an essential strategic function that provides competitive advantage. They are developing strategies to manage and improve their businesses based on knowledge and the effective use of risk across an entire enterprise," adds John Macdonald, Director, IBM Risk Analytics. "They are seeking IBM's expertise in helping resolve this challenge, with analytics technology that extends the traditional use of risk management into the business process, management systems and culture. Working with Chartis, IBM is bringing clients and industry leaders together to examine these challenges, and more importantly how to overcome them."
The research program will deliver a series of quarterly thought-leadership papers supported by live and web-based events. The first webinar will take place on Wednesday 15th May 2013 and will discuss the drivers and direction of research for The Risk Enabled Enterprise.
