Speaking about the announcement, Celtrino Managing Director, Ken Halpin said, "We've been involved in the PEPPOL standard from the beginning having been certified as the first Irish PEPPOL Access point provider in 2012. We are currently processing over 1000,000 e-invoices annually for the Irish Health Service Executive and their key suppliers."
The NHS PEPPOL initiative is estimated to eventually save £135m after it has been fully rolled out. Halpin estimated that potential savings for NHS suppliers are even greater as the hundreds of different order formats they currently have to support are replaced by one common NHS-wide format. Additionally, with all EU countries adopting PEPPOL for public procurement by 2018, suppliers stand to gain incremental savings in their costs of doing of business.

The EU's wider strategy of expanding the use of e-invoicing is a significant initiative. At present, European companies and state organisations are incurring largely avoidable costs by not trading electronically.
