MP Nick Hurd - the Minister for Civil Society is supporting UBM plc's Business4Better UK event, taking place next week (9 & 10 July). He will be kicking off day two, by opening the event on the Central Stage addressing exhibitors, speakers, visitors and event organisers. Taking place at the National Hall, Olympia, London, Business4Better UK will bring together business with the voluntary sector to build sustainable partnerships and create powerful connections that will benefit both.
Minister for Civil Society Nick Hurd said: "The role of civil society is becoming increasingly important in the commercial sector and we're seeing strong partnerships between business and charities as a result. Business4Better UK is set to be a great event and I'm pleased to see UBM plc investing in it."
The event consists of three education theatres that will feature over 100 speakers alongside more than 150 not-for-profit exhibitors. It's a unique forum where leaders from the corporate world and pioneers from within the voluntary and social enterprise sector share their experiences, debate critical issues, showcase successful partnerships and start conversations around creating meaningful collaborations.
The two day event will host speakers including Stephen Rosenthal from Google UK who will walk through the inaugural Global Impact Challenge, a Google-run competition inviting all UK charities to change the world using technology. Additional sessions scheduled to take place over the two days include a presentation by Lord Hastings of Scarisbrick, CBE, Global Head of Corporate Citizenship at KPMG International on the new opportunities for business and civil society engagement and a talk by Pauline Broomhead, CEO at The FSI who will explore how charities can look beyond donations, amongst many other workshops, seminars, immersive experiences and case-studies that will bring together experts, practitioners, thought-leaders and agents of change in this unique forum.
Business4Better UK will also host Centre Stage performances and demonstrations from the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, National Youth Music Theatre, Streetwise Opera and The Funding Network Dragons' Den, all showcasing partnerships in action.
UBM plc Chief Executive Officer, David Levin commented; "We're delighted to welcome the Minister for Civil Society, Nick Hurd to Business4Better UK this year. At UBM, we believe that business has a responsibility to give back and make a positive difference to the communities in which we live and work. By collaborating with not-for-profits and social enterprises we can generate partnerships that have more impact and are more effective than working alone."
Business4Better UK is free to attend for not-for-profits, social enterprises and business. The event is designed for anyone already thinking about the benefit of partnerships, or for those seeking advice and support before they take their first steps. Visitors will be able to explore how further to progress a partnership and have a chance to meet those ready to engage in conversation.
