http://britishbikersassociation.org/ The British Bikers Association (BBA) is pleased to announce the launch of its legal helpline for members. As one of Britain's largest motorcycling organisation, the BBA has been at the cutting edge of innovation ever since its re-launch in early 2013. Initiatives such as 'report a pothole' and its tireless campaigning on behalf of its members have seen the organisation's profile skyrocket. Now it has turned its attention to getting legal advice to its members just when they need it most.
What makes the BBA helpline different?
Unlike some other legal helpline services, simply picking up the phone will mean members get straight through to a solicitor in their area directly. The benefits of this extend to more than just geographical proximity; local legal experts may, for example, have knowledge of the stretch of road implicated in the incident. Alternatively members who call might be angry, distressed or possibly both. In such cases, a local voice that understands the position and is there to help regardless of the situation can make a genuine difference. And of course, the BBA personally screens the motorcycle legal professionals who join the organisation to make sure they have the expertise, understand bikers, and have the ability to build excellent relationships with their clients.
Speaking about the launch, BBA chief executive Colin Mahoney was keen to point out that this was an important part of giving members the protection they need: "Over the last few years we've seen a sharp rise in awareness from local authorities, government - and to an extent - drivers that motorcyclists often get a raw deal. Despite this, there's still not been enough progress towards equality and riders can end up feeling very exposed. That pothole that car drivers bounce over every day? That can be fatal to a motorcyclist. The car driver who swerved out into the middle of the road without checking his mirrors? That's a big problem if you're riding a bike. What our helpline will do is give live access to a local solicitor that's ready and primed to give members the advice and guidance they need in the event of incidents of this type - or any other - occurring. For extra peace of mind, they will even prioritise home visits, meaning members get the opportunity to talk the details of the case through face to face.
"The basic message is, it only takes a phone call to get the right advice.
To access the legal helpline, riders will need to subscribe to the BBA.
