LONDON, March 2, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --
ImpressTV Limited, a leading expert of real-time content recommendations on any device, has acquired the entertainment-based recommender system business line from Gravity R&D and dictates a rapid growth by welcoming Sentiance as a key partner for mobile.
ImpressTV, a fast-growing international recommender engine company, with many recognized clients from all major TV platforms - including CenturyLink, Magyar Telekom, SaskTel and Ivi.ru -, acquires Gravity R&D's division for TMT markets, while Gravity R&D continues to operate in the field of online recommendations, mainly for internet companies.
Directors of ImpressTV Andy Brown (former CEO of BT Rich Media) and Mark Anderson (former Global GM of Solutions and Services at Altech Multimedia) highlight the reasons for the acquisition as follows:
"We had a very successful business partnership with Gravity R&D before the acquisition and are confident that we have procured one of the most innovative technical teams in the field of recommendation engine technologies as well as a team who have been specializing in the various needs of the telecommunication industry for many years now," says Anderson.
Andy Brown adds about ImpressTV's technology: "Our scientific and viewer-centred approach is able to outperform what other vendors provide in the market - we also provide an effective metadata and content-centred approach. Our main approach is to find those almost undetectable similarities and differences among contents, which could not be accurately defined with tagging, but can be specified by understanding people's tastes, which is a somewhat dynamic variable even within the same person."
Besides the acquisition, ImpressTV also announces an exciting partnership with Belgium-based Sentiance (formerly Argus Labs). Specialising in contextual data analysis derived from sensors within mobile devices, Sentiance have chosen to work with ImpressTV exclusively, closely linking both company's contextual techniques.
"ImpressTV showed a strong understanding of our technology and they clearly demonstrated the best recommendation system that we evaluated. In partnership we will deliver the next generation of products globally on mobile platforms," said Sentiance founder Filip Maertens.
ImpressTV's Andy Brown added: "Bringing users moods together with recommendations was a logical next step for us, building on our already world-class behavioural-based algorithm family. Combining the two products creates a remarkable solution for mobile platforms."
ImpressTV provides personalized recommendations, targeted advertising, data analytics, predictive analysis and audience measurement reporting within the television and entertainment space. The company's mission is to provide an integrated set of tools and products that are highly compelling to both Operators and their consumers. ImpressTV is privately financed by highly experienced business leaders within the UK, and has offices in the UK, in Hungary and in the United Arab Emirates.
