LONDON, March 2, 2017 /PRNewswire/ --
BrightStarr is delighted to mark 10 years of support for tennis alternative, touchtennis, by sponsoring the Unily Masters tournament which took place on the 5th February in Portsmouth, United Kingdom.
Surrey based enterprise IT Consultancy BrightStarr, has been supporting the growth of touchtennis since 2007 when the first pro event was played. As a grass roots initiative, BrightStarr, with its commitment to social responsibility, has helped this young sport grow from 8 players to over 10,000 and is now title sponsor for major events such as the Sky Sports featured Unily Masters in Portsmouth earlier in February. Part of the touchtennis world tour, the Masters attracts a global internet audience as well as coverage on Sky Sports ensuring exposure for the sport.
The brainchild of Rashid Ahmad, touchtennis began life in the outskirts of London in 2002, offering a modified version of traditional tennis, played on a compact court with foam balls and shorter (21 inch) rackets. An attractive alternative to the mainstream game, the key to touchtennis lies not in manipulating the ball with raw power but rather with deft stroke-play and chess-like manoeuvres.
BrightStarr is proud to have been able to offer support to local Surrey initiatives, helping young players get into new sports.
"BrightStarr has grown from a small start-up in 2006 to a renowned digital consultancy with offices in the UK, USA and Australia, working with organisations such as the Hershey Company and Amec Foster Wheeler" said Paul Jackson, Managing Director, BrightStarr. "We are delighted to have been part of the touchtennis journey and to see the sport gain momentum, alongside BrightStarr. We look forward to supporting more local initiatives that make an impact in the years to come."
