Cyber security expert Hadi El-Khoury's entry recognized as top submission
BonitaSoft, the leader in open source business process management (BPM), today announced the results of its "Pimp My Bonita" contest and recognized French cyber security expert Hadi El-Khoury's entry as the winning submission. El-Khoury designed a security analysis tool that assessed the potential risk a given process poses to an organization throughout its lifespan for Sekimia, a security consulting firm.
The Pimp My Bonita contest challenged members of BonitaSoft's open source community to design innovative processes using Bonita Open Solution. After sorting through dozens of entries, BonitaSoft narrowed submissions down to five finalists, which were then evaluated by an independent panel of industry experts: Jay Lyman of 451 Research, Neil Ward-Dutton of MWD Advisors, and Bruce Silver of BPMS Watch.
El Khoury's submission, MindsetPimp, is built on the jQuery framework and forecasts the potential risk of a given business process. Individuals can map critical processes in Bonita Studio and then send data to Sekimia's software suite via an XML connector. Judges cited the entry's extensibility and rich visualization features as particularly compelling factors in leading them to select it as the winning submission.
"As a cyber security professional, I'm constantly assessing operators' needs in terms of information security, business continuity, and crisis management," said Pimp My Bonita contest winner Hadi El-Khoury, SEKIMIA Chief Strategy Officer. "Business process management has emerged as a crucial tool for speaking security in the language of business, as we say at SEKIMIA. Bonita Open Solution presents an extremely flexible framework that allows me to build a tool that can capably monitor potential vulnerabilities in business processes that could act as a hindrance down the road."
"Over the past three years, the Bonita community has grown from a small group of core contributors to over 20,000 active users," said Rodrigue Le Gall, BonitaSoft Chief Services Officer and Bonita project co-founder. "This contest was an opportunity to showcase some of the incredible work being done on a daily basis by community members, and we were impressed by the diverse pool of submissions that we received. On behalf of BonitaSoft, I wanted to extend a hearty congratulations to Hadi El-Khoury as well as all other individuals that took the time to participate in this contest."
"I've been following BonitaSoft's steady progress since their launch in 2009, and it's been interesting to see the diversity of processes that have emanated from Bonita Open Solution," said Neil Ward-Dutton, MWD Advisors founder and Research Director. "To that end, Mr. El-Khoury's project shows a different dimension to modeling processes that's often ignored and has real value and it demonstrates an innovative approach to extensibility."
