BiiSafe a Winner in the Red Dot Award 2014: BiiSafe Buddy is Awarded for High Design Quality

HELSINKI, Finland, March 24, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --

BiiSafe convinced the 40-member expert panel for the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2014 with the high design quality of its product BiiSafe Buddy designed by Idem Finland Oy. In the competition, the international experts discussed and evaluated 4,815 entries from 53 countries. But only designs that won over the jury with quality and innovative strength won an award. BiiSafe Buddy was successful and received the coveted Red Dot quality seal as its deserved reward.

BiiSafe Buddy consists of a stylish mobile accessory and a smartphone app. It enables easy and quick location sharing and alert sending among friends and family with just one press of a button. The message is sent to pre-selected contacts who can see the sender's location on their mobile in a map view. When used as a key ring, the app can also help in finding one's lost keys. Design and wearability have played a significant role in the product development.

"Critical factors of today's mobile accessories are wearability, high quality materials and ease of use. Chief Designer Petri Tuhkanen from Idem Finland Oy has been able to catch this thinking in the final product. We are very proud of the BiiSafe Buddy's look and feel that draws on the simplified Scandinavian design", says BiiSafe's CEO Jouni Suutarinen.

Prof. Dr. Peter Zec, initiator and CEO of Red Dot, explains the decision process in the Red Dot Award: "The 40 experts assessed the quality of the entries with the utmost care and attention. Due to their backgrounds, they also assessed the special cultural aspects of the designs from 53 countries. But only the best products receive an award from the jury. This is especially reflected in the percentage of successful entries in the Red Dot Award, which is much smaller in contrast to other international design competitions. Therefore, the winners can be proud of their achievements - with their entries, they stood out from the rest and were able to pass the test in front of the critical eyes of the experts."
