British-Greek soprano, Aliki, the classical crossover singer who dazzled the nation on Britain's Got Talent, is set to release her international debut album Reflections on April 15th. Aliki inspired many around the globe with her soaring vocals and story, and she describes the making of this album as "a dream come true."
Produced by Robin Hoffmann and recorded at Smecky Studios with the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, Reflections is a journey; a gathering of memories and influences. The album features works by Puccini, Gounod, Dvorak, Webber, Lara, Rota and many more. Covering a vast repertoire of opera, musical theatre, popular songs, the album will appeal to lovers of both classical and contemporary music.
Reflections opens with "Earth Song" by Michael Jackson, chosen for its poignant lyricism, followed by Coldplay's "Every Teardrop is a Waterfall". The album also features a number of well-known classics and a stunning collaboration with one of Greece's greatest male voices, Michalis Hadzigiannis, with the song "Falling Slowly from Once". Last but not least is the haunting "Young and Beautiful" by Lana Del Rey.
Commenting on the release of Reflections , Aliki said, "When diagnosed with encephalitis, I remember looking in the mirror, and I could no longer see myself in its reflection. It's a frightening thing, nevertheless it made me stronger, more determined and taught me that life is too short. This album reflects a part of my journey. Each song was chosen carefully, each one marked its part in my life and is a reflection of a thought, a moment - I can't wait to share it with my wonderful fans."
With over 50 million YouTube video views since she appeared on BGT, Aliki has gone on to give performances all around the world, including the USA, Canada, Mexico, Canary Islands, Greece, France and the UK, including concerts for the president of Cyprus and the British Forces in Cyprus.
Aliki has been designated Ambassador of the World Encephalitis Society with a very active and primary role into the society's charity projects globally, including running the Virgin Money London Marathon in 2015, and a half marathon in Cyprus; raising money and awareness for the society. In 2014 she was nominated "Woman of the Year" in the artist category by Madame Figaro magazine.
