KARACHI, Pakistan, January 12, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --
Artistic Milliners announced that its latest factory, AM-IV based in Karachi, has now started production. This plant is the only one of its kind with a LEEDS Gold certified building and sustainable production processes. It's a huge leap forward into the future; it could take years for other garment manufactures to build something comparable. The building is the only garment factory in Pakistan - as well as the largest facility and the most complex garment manufacturing site - to ever receive LEED Gold certification.
LEED certification is the building industry's well-respected recognition of superior energy and environmental design and construction. A gold certification recognizes a high level of performance. "Artistic Milliners has a commitment to reduce the impact of its operations on the environment," said Murtaza Ahmed, Director at Artistic Milliners. "In our older, established facilities, we are also adopting changes in our processes to keep them in line with current state-of-the-art environmental practices. It was a great experience to be able to design and build from scratch the most environmentally advanced garment manufacturing plant."
Some of the environmental highlights of the AM-IV plant include:
Energy and Atmosphere, Water Efficiency & Sustainable Site
- Erosion and Sedimentation plan for construction
- Within Half Mile Radius 10 BASIS services like Hospital, Transport, Stores etc
- Maximum open space
- 50% of the roof area to be vegetated
- No light pollution
- SITE renewable energy
- Waste water recycling
- Tobacco free environment
AM-IV is 483,299 square feet and will have approximately 3,000 team members when in full production. AM-IV is critical to Artistic Milliners' manufacturing strategy, and sets the world standard for a state-of-the-art, innovative, high-tech garment manufacturing facility of the future. The LEED certification covers the building, energy efficient design, water use reduction, sustainable site selection and development, responsible materials selection and waste management, and enhanced indoor environmental quality.
