Apache Partners Sets up New Global Frontier Markets Fund

Apache Partners LLP, the UK based investment advisory business set up by Paul Forsyth, is launching the Apache Global Frontiers Fund on 22 March 2013.
The Fund will focus on the markets of Central & South America, the Balkans, the Baltics, Central & Eastern Europe (from the Czech Republic to Armenia), sub-Saharan Africa, parts of the Gulf region, Indochina and Central Asia (the 'Istans' and Mongolia). The Fund is intended to feature genuine frontier markets. The portfoilo will have a primary focus on equities but will also include fixed income. It will exclude the BRICS countries.
The portfolio will be managed on a fund-of-fund basis and selections will be made from both a quantitative and qualitative standpoint. Apache will use recognised data services to provide the statistics, but will place greater importance on qualitative factors in this young investment area. The emphasis will be on finding managers with a real awareness of the issues driving these embryonic markets and understanding the investment approach and process that drives them. Key markets to be feature initialy will be Mongola, Kazhakstan, Nigeria, Bosnia and Cuba and Iraq. There will be exposure to over 40 markets.
