VIENNA, September 17, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --
- Situated right next to Vienna's magnificent Ringstrasse, the city's Magic of Advent festivities have for decades been a fixed attraction in the run-up to Christmas for young and old alike.
From the aroma of Christmas delicacies to the colourful displays of the market stalls and the festive lights of the Christmas tree against the backdrop of Vienna's city hall, the Vienna Magic of Advent lives up to its name in every respect. For the 27th time, the Advent period in Vienna will be awash with magic this year from 17 November to 24 December.
The whole family will be treated to very special delights during the festive season at the Vienna Magic of Advent. From romantic calm in the Rathauspark and the bustle and charm of the Christmas market all the way through to a colourful children's programme and cultural highlights - Vienna's venerable Advent market has something in store for everyone. As part of the diverse programme in "Christkindl's Workshop", young visitors will find all they are looking for. Under expert guidance, they are invited to bake and make things to their heart's content. Another Magic of Advent highlight will surely be an encounter with the Viennese "Christkindl", the local equivalent of Father Christmas, who will not only listen to children's wishes, but will also delight young and old with Yuletide stories.
The Rathauspark will bring a sparkle to the eyes of visitors as they marvel at the magical lights spelling the advent of Christmas. A stroll through the lovingly decorated park will not only bring a touch of calm away from the hustle and bustle of the Christmas market, but will also provide some magical surprises. From the "Herzerlbaum", the tree of hearts for lovers, to pony rides and a nostalgia merry-go-round for the youngsters - a stroll through the park is just the thing to leave the stress of the pre-Christmas season far behind. From the first week of Advent, visitors can also get into a festive mood between Friday and Sunday at the international Advent singing in the banqueting halls of Vienna's city hall.
