Multi-Role Light Tactical Vehicle (MLTV) – The Multi-Role Light Tactical Vehicle (MLTV), is a sixth generation HMMWV. It has an improved suspension system, a more robust chassis, and can survive significant threats--both ballistics and blasts on the body, underbody, as well as on the sides of the vehicle body. The MLTV incorporates all of AM General's expertise and experience in designing, developing and manufacturing light tactical vehicles and delivers it in an outstanding package. It is a bigger vehicle. The company's expertise in armor protection, powertrains, chassis, suspensions, systems integration and life-cycle sustainment allows it to meet and support the unique LTV requirements our global customers demand at an affordable price. What AM General has done with the HMMWV is evolve and improve it during its more than 25 years of service. ..taking lessons learned from the battlefield and the commercial automotive industry. All of the experiences AM General has gained from designing and producing hundreds of thousands of Light Tactical Vehicles -- the battlefield experiences, the innovative developments built into the vehicle from the commercial automotive sector, have been incorporated into the cost-effective, dependable Multi-Role Light Tactical Vehicle or MLTV.
High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV) Chassis Upgrades – AM General offers a wide variety of services to its international customers. These services range from continuing to supply parts in support of existing vehicles to tailoring upgrades and modernization programs that are based on the specific needs of each country. These modernization efforts can range from country specific fleet surveys that recommend a set of services or component upgrades... through offering a complete modernization program that will bring earlier HMMWVs to a configuration on par with new vehicles. The modernized chassis is designed for HMMWVs that will continue to be in the U.S. and international military fleets for 30-plus years. AM General's modernized chassis has been upgraded after more than 10 years of Research and Development investment to support heavier vehicle operating weights, thereby increasing payload capacity at the same time as providing full crew protection with modular and scaleable kitted armor. Additionally, the upgraded cooling system provides higher cooling capacity to ensure the HMMWV will meet or exceed all operational requirements at a heavier operating weight and in significantly higher temperature environments. Specific improvements include: 400-amp alternator; Enhanced air lift brackets; Front mounted AC condenser; heavy duty shocks; high capacity disc brakes; improved cooling with gear fan drive; reduced effort steering; increased load rated wheels; robust 3-piece frame rails; dedicated parking brake; rear differential improved cooling capacity. These improvements have resulted in not only a more capable vehicle, but also a more durable and reliable one.
