"We are very pleased to add our 16th destination in the United States, reflecting Aeromexico's commitment to increase our presence in one of our most important markets. Boston is a city of major significance to Mexico and Latin America, with its substantial economic potential at the global level, and its extensive offering of academic institutions, at which many students from Mexico and Latin America arrive each year," said Anko van der Werff, Executive Director of Revenues for Aeromexico.
Passengers traveling from Boston to Mexico City can connect to 45 destinations in Mexico on Aeromexico such as Acapulco, Aguascalientes, Bajio, Cancun, Chihuahua, Guadalajara, Ixtapa, Los Cabos, Monterrey, Puerto Vallarta, Tijuana, Villahermosa; 16 major cities in Latin America such as Buenos Aires, Lima and Bogotá, among others; and three major capitals in Europe and 2 in Asia.
"In the name of the tourism industry of Boston and New England, I am pleased to welcome Aeromexico. The new non-stop service will be reflected in more visitors, which means more spending, from Mexico and Latin America in our city and in our hotels, restaurants, attractions and retailers. Tourism for Boston and Cambridge could see a $54 million increase thanks to the Aeromexico service," said Patrick Moscaritolo, President and CEO of Boston's Office of Conventions and Visitors.
"We are thrilled to be adding this new destination to the list of international cities that people can fly to non-stop from Boston," said Thomas P. Glynn, CEO of Logan International Airport – Massport of Boston. "Mexico City is one of the world's biggest cities, and it dates back to the 14th century, which means it has a number of things in common with Boston, which just like Mexico's capital, is a place that honors its own important history, at the same time that it is a cultural and political center for the U.S., has a high concentration of universities, and is differentiated by its diversity."
With the start of flight service for this route, Aeromexico is now offering 80 flights daily from Mexico City to the United States, enabling it to ferry some 9,000 passengers a day between the two countries, which underscores the airlines commitment to offer its customers a bigger and better connectivity network, along with world-class service.
