Savoo research shows a bad summer can affect pocket and mind
Savoo.co.uk, the money saving and voucher website has today revealed the news we have all been dreading; namely, that a wet and cold summer can hurt the nation's pockets as well as its mind.

The Savoo research shows that, on average, a bad summer will cost the average UK adult an extra £500 in heating, electricity, extra clothing, eating out, petrol and holidaying abroad (instead of taking holidays in the UK).
Simon Bird, General Manager of Savoo International commented, "The bad weather isn't doing any favours to the British public when it comes to saving money. The cold and wet is expensive and we are longing for some sunshine to ease the pain of what was already a painful winter. I would say this, but our advice to consumers is to check the best price on everything you spend money on and you could easily recoup that extra £500 over the course of the year - it's not all doom and gloom."
But the bad weather can create havoc with peoples' moods and personal relationships too. Over 80% of respondents claimed that the bad weather was causing them to feel down and irritable. But the main winner thanks to these consistently bad summers seems to be the travel industry, with people looking to travel abroad this year hitting a record-breaking 69%.
