100 Investment Opportunities in 20 UK Regions to be Presented to 200 Investors in Beijing at CBBC's China Outboud Conference 2015
BEIJING, Nov. 3, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Following the UK's announcement of £40 billion in inward investment and trade during the state visit of President Xi Jinping, the China-Britain Business Council today unveils 100 investment opportunities from around the UK to 200 Chinese investors in Beijing at its third annual China Outbound Conference. Delegations from around Britain have travelled to Beijing to present a catalogue of new investment opportunities in 13 industry sectors and in 20 dynamic cities and regions of the UK.
"We are hugely excited to have a large contingent of senior UK delegations travelling to Beijing to win investment, including representatives of Sheffield, Birmingham, Liverpool, Nottingham, Northern Ireland, Wales, Jersey and the Isle of Man," says Stephen Phillips, chief executive of CBBC. "We see exciting potential across the UK and in many sectors. What is more, investors are looking at a wide range of deal sizes. The conference is an excellent opportunity for companies from each side to network and learn from each other."
Financial services, retail, manufacturing and infrastructure are among the key sectors in which opportunities are being presented, as well as more traditional areas such as property. There is also an array of fast-emerging fields from education to fashion, food and drink, healthcare, media and the creative industries, which are attracting widespread attention from Chinese investors as their understanding of the UK market deepens. Chinese investors are now actively seeking opportunities outside London, with greenfield investment a particular growth area which will bring Chinese technologies and skills into the UK.
The 200-strong Chinese turnout at the conference includes the president of the Silk Road Fund - a crucial funding stream for China's international "One Belt One Road" initiative - as well as the vice-chairman of the China International Contractors Association, senior representatives of the Ministry of Commerce's outward investment department and the National Development & Reform Commission's western region development department, the senior vice-president of Sanpower (owner of House of Fraser) and the chief executive of Fosun (which acquired London's Lloyds Chambers and a stake in Thomas Cook).
"Growing Chinese outbound investment is a defining trend in the commercial relationship, which will contribute to British business growth for decades to come," says Stephen Phillips. "We believe there is enormous potential for British companies to benefit from powerful partnerships with China at home and in third countries around the world."
