Aquanos, the Israeli water-tech company spearheading energy efficient wastewater purification, has been chosen to participate in a Global Entrepreneurs' event at the White House in the presence of President Obama.

The prestigious event, taking place on May 11, 2015 in Washington D.C., will bring together some of the world's most promising companies recognized for their potential to create a positive global impact on the environment and quality of life.

Aquanos' first-of-its-kind technology tackles two of the world's most pressing challenges: clean water and clean energy. Its microalgae-based system is capable of delivering high-grade effluent while using up to 90% less energy compared with conventional aerobic wastewater treatments. In certain conditions, Aquanos can even produce a net-positive energy balance, and its algae can be harvested to produce valuable by-products such as fertilizers and bioplastics. 

According to Udi Leshem, Aquanos CEO, the company's novel approach represents a paradigm shift in the business model of wastewater treatment, offering both developing and developed nations an opportunity to generate income from what is currently a costly and energy intensive process.

Founded in 2011 following four years of intensive R&D, Aquanoshas contracts to install its unique wastewater treatment systems across Africa, Asia, North America and Israel. In December 2014, Aquanoswas one of four winners in the Tel Aviv Challenge Cup, a competition organized by US based accelerator 1776, covering 16 global cities in search of the most promising start-ups.
