Alert Logic Launches UK Datacenter, Provides Enhanced Data Protection to European Customers

Data residency is an important consideration for many organizations when selecting a security solution provider for their cloud, on-premises, and hybrid IT environments. Now with its UK datacenter, organizations working with Alert Logic can know that their data is not only secure, but also supports their local data privacy requirements.

For this European deployment, Alert Logic chose the Next Generation Data Center in Newport, Wales, one of the world's largest datacenters, located on a 50-acre site with 750,000 square feet of space, and designed as a Tier 3+ data center. This major investment, supported by the Welsh Government, enables Alert Logic to collect, analyse and store data within the European Union, ensuring adherence to the EU Data Protection Policy around data privacy, protection and residency.

The Next Generation Datacenter building is an energy efficient or "green" data center as it runs on 100% renewable energy and uses less than 1% of the water volume used by standard data centers; one data hall uses approximately 1.5 megawatts which is enough to power a small village of 750 houses. There will be continual expansion of the building for the next five to ten years.
