Spokesperson for Sergei Polonsky Responds to Cambodian Detainment
LONDON, January 4, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --
Explaining the circumstances that led to Mr Polonsky's detainment on Sunday, a spokesperson for the Russian businessman commented:
"Mr Polonsky and a group of friends were enjoying a private party on a small uninhabited island when their fireworks attracted attention from a nearby military base. After officers asked the group for identification, Mr Polonsky offered to retrieve the relevant documents from his private island nearby, however his request was refused. Unfortunately, the language barrier between both parties led to some tension as Mr Polonsky and his friends were taken to the military base by force.
"Mr Polonsky has been released on bail following the misunderstanding and is now working with Cambodian authorities and legal representatives to resolve the situation."
