OXFORD, England, April 28, 2016 /PRNewswire/ --
Bakels, the family bakery supplier, has launched a brand new gluten-free sweet bake at home brownie and muffin mixes.
Building on the success of its gluten-free multi-seed bread and artisan bread, Bakels has responded to customers who need to avoid gluten, but feel they miss out on sweet treats.
Greg Woodhead, Product Development Manager at Bakels said:
"We know that finding all the bakery favourites for a gluten-free diet is difficult, we've listened to what people want and have now developed tasty sweet mixes that will enable families to enjoy gluten-free treats again.
"Having discovered the secret to making gluten free bread mixes that are lovely and light, we used the same technique to develop mixes that make brownies, muffins and cakes."
224 Coeliac UK members responded to a survey last year, confirming that many people with a gluten intolerance felt they missed out on some of the simple food pleasures in life, including bread and cakes.
When asked what food they missed the most 81% (163) said bread, with 51% saying cakes, and 42% cereals.
Charlotte Jarvis, an Estate Agent from Kent has a gluten intolerance, she said:
"I used to love anything sweet or savoury you could get in a bakery. It's been hard to find affordable, and edible cakes and treats, so I just avoid them and often feel like I'm missing out. I'm very excited that I can make my own cakes and brownies."
Bakels have launched a new recipe portal online at www.bakelshomebaking.com which offers ideas for gluten free lunches, cakes and snacks. The new products are available from Amazon. The breads, now only £2 are also available from selected Sainsbury's stores.
