LEEDS, England, May 28, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --
Over the last couple of months there have been rumors about the features of Apple's new iPhone 5 flying all over the place. With its release getting closer, these rumors are coming more often and from stronger and more concrete sources.
These rumors have emerged from a variety of sources around the net including iLounge, 9to5 Mac and iMove to name a few, but they have been pretty much covered by most of the technology blogs out there. However, in this article we are going to highlight the main ones covered on the Armenante Apple news blog.
The first feature that seems to be rumored from every site on the Internet is a change to the dock connector in the next iPhone. This is likely to happen, as the current dock connector has been part of Apple devices now for about 8 years, since the release of the original iPod. The thin 30-pin connector is famous for being the Apple connection of choice for its portable devices. It has been on everything from the iPod Nano to the current iPad. Now, according to the rumors, Apple is thinking it is probably time for a change - the rumor first appeared from iLounge and then it was repeated in iMore. Finally, it was repeated again in a recent article from 9to5 Mac, who have apparently got a source from inside the Apple campus. The rumor states that the dock connector will roughly halve in size and that Apple will more than likely make this new one standard across all their new devices. However, the article didn't mention if there was going to be any changes to the data speed of the connector.
The rumor sites have also mentioned the physical shape of the next Apple smartphone. The rumors state that the device will be thinner than the current model, yet maintain the rectangular shape. This is different to rumors earlier in the year that suggested the next iPhone might have more of a curved shape.
The final big rumor coming from the Armenante Apple news site is about the size of the screen that will be in the next iPhone. Earlier in the year there were rumors going round that stated that the next phone would have a 4 inch screen instead of the current 3.5 inch one. Rumors from the insider source at 9to5 Mac have said that it will be a 3.9 inch one. Given that this will be very close to 4 inch, the resolution that this screen will offer will be a lot higher than the current retina display at 640 x 1136. It was also worked out by 9to5 Mac that if these things were taken into account it would give the screen a 16:9 aspect ratio. This is significant mainly because that 16:9 aspect ratio is more commonly known as wide screen, so this means that wide screen video would be able to be natively played on the iPhone 5 if these rumors are true.
These are the current main rumors about the Apple iPhone 5, which are coming thick and fast and getting more numerous closer to the devices release. The Armenante Apple news blog will make sure that it covers all of the iPhone 5 rumors and news.
