InPeru once more visited London to promote Peru as an attractive investment opportunity. The road show took place on the 4th and 5th of September at the Four Seasons Hotel and the London Stock Exchange and gathered investors and representatives from the Peruvian public and private sector. The delegation was comprised of 55 business leaders and government officials. The Minister of Production, Piero Ghezzi together with the Governor of the Central Reserve Bank of Peru Julio Velarde, Chairman of inPeru Jose Antonio Blanco and Chairman of the Lima Stock Exchange Christian Laub highlighted to investors the strong macroeconomic foundations and favourable investment climate that Peru has to offer.
Mr Julio Velarde, Governor of the Central Reserve Bank of Peru emphasised a strong macroeconomic stability. He highlighted that the Central Bank expected the GDP to grow by 3.4% this quarter and by 5.6% in last quarter of the year mainly because of a recovery in the private sector economy, especially in the mining sector. Additionally, Velarde said that in 2013 they had 28.3% of GDP as total Investments where 5.8% represented investment in the public sector and 22.4% in the private sector.
Piero Ghezzi, Minister of Production of Peru, presented the Peruvian economic outlook and pointed out that they were concentrating on three main pillars, education, health infrastructure and crime reduction, as a strategy for economic development.
The Peruvian economy has emerged as the best performing economy in Latin America, showing the highest growth rate (6.4%) and the lowest inflation (2.8%) in the last decade. It is projected that for the period of 2015 - 2020, the Peruvian GDP will maintain growth levels of around 6%.
This morning the delegation visited the London Stock Exchange and rang the bell at the market opening ceremony.
Since its inception, InPeru has visited 13 cities during seven road shows held in countries in America, Europe and Asia and has gathered more than 4000 investors. With the road shows Peruvian companies have been able to raise awareness of their potential; and foreign investors have been able to meet Peruvian entrepreneurs and members of the government. The one to one meetings together with the seminars have led to visits and foreign investments in Peru from delegations of entrepreneurs from China, Germany, Luxembourg, the UK and Singapore.
