EMSc (UK) Ltd, manufacturer of the Powerstar range of voltage optimisation systems, is pleased to announce it is ending the year in buoyant mood after winning a prestigious Environment Award at the Sheffield Business Awards.
The award, which also caps off what has been one of the most successful years in the company's history, is presented to the business that has taken significant steps to promote, adapt and make environmental improvements within its own operations, or helped others to do so.
In 2014 the company's founder, Dr. Alex Mardapittas, was also named as one of the Top 100 role models in UK manufacturing, a prestigious national award which recognises inspirational people in manufacturing and individuals and is aimed at raising the profile of manufacturing in the UK is a vibrant, exciting and creative industry in which to be involved.
2014 also saw the company successfully expand into the North American market, with its first business win for Powerstar in the territory.
The company's international office in Australasia enjoyed a successful year by continuing to establish a strong network of distributors for Powerstar. It will oversee the completion of the largest installation of a voltage optimisation system in the Southern Hemisphere and the first ever install of an electronic-dynamic system at the University of Melbourne.
Established operations in Cyprus, Greece and the Middle East office have also enjoyed continued success releasing impressive energy saving results figures from flagship Powerstar installations at Carlsberg, PWC, Deloitte, Tencate and Ski Dubai.
Since moving to the company's current manufacturing facility and office premises nearly two years ago, employee numbers have increased by over 11%, manufacturing output has increased by 20% and investment in R&D has increased by 18%. Turnover in 2014 has also increased by 9%.
EMSc is not however, resting on any laurels, as 2015 is already promising be an exciting year. The company is set to be first to market with yet another innovative voltage optimisation solution, Powerstar Storage , which is due to be unveiled in the first quarter.
