The "Xyber" in Xybernaut is a variation on the Greek word cyber, which generally refers to advanced computer technology. The "naut" is from the Greek word for navigation. An astronaut or aquanaut is a person who wears equipment to help them navigate and function in a foreign environment.
The name Xybernaut Corporation better reflects the company's mission to provide Information systems solutions that help users access knowledge in mobile environments. The Mobile Assistant®, the company's first product in fulfilling this mission, is a voice-activated wearable PC. Xybernaut believes it will help usher in a new paradigm in the computer revolution: bodyworn knowledge delivery.
