World Water Week finaliza con la 'Declaración de Estocolmo' a Rio+20
ESTOCOLMO, August 26, 2011 /PRNewswire/ --
La 2011 World Water Week de Estocolmo finalizó hoy con la reunión de los participantes apoyando una "Declaración de Estocolmo a la Conferencia de las Naciones Unidas de 2012 sobre el Desarrollo Sostenible en Río de Janeiro (Cumbre Rio+20)."
La 'Declaración de Estocolmo' hace un llamamiento a los líderes de todos los niveles de los gobiernos que participarán en la Cumbre Rio+20 (4-6 junio de 2012) con el compromiso de conseguir "el aprovisionamiento universal de agua potable, saneamiento adecuado y servicios modernos de energía para el año 2030," y la adopción de objetivos concretos de intervención para aumentar la eficiencia en la gestión del agua, la energía y los alimentos.
La 'Declaración de Estocolmo' ha contado con el apoyo de UN-Water, el Ministerio Federal Alemán de Medio Ambiente, Conservación de la Naturaleza y Seguridad Nuclear y el Ministerio Federal de Cooperación Económica y Desarrollo y respaldado por una serie de organizaciones internacionales, incluyendo: Conservation International, International Water Management Institute, IRC International Water and Sanitation Centre, Stakeholder Forum, Stockholm International Water Institute, Wateraid y Worldwide Fund for Nature (WWF), entre otros.
