The MobiCloud Consortium Announces the First European Construction App Challenge Open
LONDON, STOCKHOLM, UTRECHT, Netherlands and KARLSRUHE, Germany, October 21, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --
The MobiCloud consortium, creator of an award-winning new generation enterprise mobility platform which has been successfully trialed in different domains in the United Kingdom, Sweden and Germany, is announcing the first European Construction App Challenge. This challenge is open to participants from all over the world.
The Construction App Challenge draws on the success of the Site Diary product that underwent a series of trials in London on the premises of Costain, one of the leading engineering solutions providers in the world. The purpose of the Construction App Challenge is twofold: first, to incentivize the general public and construction professionals to come up with innovative ideas at the intersection of construction and mobile technology; second, to give teams of developers a chance to bring these ideas forward and create viable concepts and business models in close contact with construction experts and professionals from the MobiCloud consortium.
The Construction App Challenge consists of two rounds.
In round 1, anyone can register on the website of the MobiCloud project (http://www.mobicloudproject.eu) and submit their idea for an innovative mobile app for construction. A panel comprising of construction experts will review the submissions, choose the top 10 and suggest how to enhance them. The panel will also award a prize of 1,000 euros for the most innovative idea among those submitted.
In round 2, teams of developers (students, potential startups or anyone else) can register on the website of the MobiCloud project and get access to the pool of pre-validated ideas from round 1. Once they choose an idea they will have access to experts from the construction companies to help them validate the idea and develop it into a feasible concept. Experts from the MobiCloud consortium will provide additional guidance on the creation of the business models. The construction expert panel will review all of the concepts developed and select the winning ones. If convinced by the teams' presentations, the construction companies may choose to sponsor and conduct field trials of the winning concepts.
More details about the Construction App Challenge can be found on the MobiCloud consortium's website.
