Supernet, the UK's first new media services provider, is launching two new products onto the market, Supernet CD and Business Interactive.

Supernet CD overcomes the speed and graphical limitations of the Internet by combining the large storage capabilities of a CD-ROM with the transactional and timely capabilities of a web site on the Internet. Business Interactive is an on-line global business park where small-to-medium companies can trade in a secure environment, using Supernet's intelligent database technology.

Supernet, led by top luminaries from the telecomms and media industries, has been instrumental in the success of BarclaySquare and has worked with The Mirror Group, Guinesss, NatWest, as well as many others.

Archie Thomas (Managing Director designated) and Nick Ogden (Managing/Technical Director) will be in London on Thursday, 7 November, to introduce Supernet to the media and they would be happy to meet with you.

Archie Thomas - Managing Director designate

Archie has a long and distinguished business career, from being central in the flotation of Firefox International on NASDAQ in his position as President and CEO, to increasing Wall Data's European revenues from $4 million per annum to a going rate of $26 million. Archie has been involved with technology companies since the 1960's and they include Trinitec Advanced Systems, Altos Computer Systems, Molecular Computer Ltd, Chubb Integrated Systems Ltd, Perkin-Elmer Data Systems Ltd, Plessey Telecommunications Ltd and ICL.

Nick Ogden - Managing/Technical Director

Nick has been involved in the IT industry since 1985, starting a company based around business-to-business transactions. An inventor at heart, Nick established the first dynamic real-time data update to DataStar before moving into large database applications in the late 80's. The 90's saw Nick moving into the interactive multi-media and CD publishing field working on Datadiscman for Sony followed by the conception and patent of a product called Dataphone - a forerunner of today's Network Computers. Nick is now responsible for all of the research and development within the Supernet Group.

Supernet is a media services provider (MSP) which aims to enable and promote the commercial use of interactive technologies through practical innovation. Amongst its most recent achievements, Supernet launched BarclaySquare, the first UK virtual shopping mall offering secure credit card payment systems, jointly developed with Barclays Bank, in June 1995. The company also operates secure multi-currency credit card transactions capable of supporting over 150 currencies through Natwest Bank. Complementary products include off-shore data havens/hosting and web satellite transmission technology.

Note to editors:

The venue in London will be the offices of Hill and Knowlton at 7 Theobalds Road, London WC1X 8SH.
