RSA INTRODUCES BSAFE SSL-C FOR WORLDWIDE MARKETS
San Mateo, California - RSA Data Security, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Security Dynamics Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: SDTI), today established itself as a global provider of high-value security products and services by introducing BSAFE SSL-CTM, the company's first protocol-level toolkit for worldwide markets. BSAFE SSL-C is the first RSA product available outside the United States that supports key lengths of any size, and incorporates the full suite of RSA and other algorithms specified in SSL.
The BSAFE SSL-C product gives independent software vendors (ISVs) and enterprise developers around the world an integrated and tested package of components implementing both encryption and Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol functions for building secure applications. This is designed to greatly reduce development times and costs, and for the first time gives companies creating SSL applications for deployment around the world a single source for their encryption and protocol component needs.

The BSAFE SSL-C software product was developed overseas by RSA Data Security Australia Pty, Ltd., RSA's new Brisbane, Australia development center. It not only gives developers outside the U.S. access to the industry's most trusted encryption and security technology, but also makes it possible for U.S.-based enterprises and ISVs to offer products with strong encryption for global markets.
BSAFE SSL-C is based on SSLeay, an implementation of the Secure Sockets Layer encryption protocol developed by Australian cryptographers Eric Young and Tim Hudson. BSAFE SSL-C is backed by RSA's product development and support organization in Australia. Both Young and Hudson have joined RSA's newly formed Australian subsidiary, RSA Data Security Australia Pty, Ltd.

The BSAFE SSL-C security components give software developers everything they need to implement the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL v2 and v3) protocol, as well as the Transport Layer Security (TLS v1.0) protocol, for banking, financial services, Web publishing, government and other consumer and electronic commerce applications. Through these security components, new types of secure communications can also be explored, including embedding security in cell phones, pagers, and personal digital assistants. This is designed to allow developers to meet emerging security needs within many types of new devices and new markets.
BSAFE SSL-C has already received support from many of RSA's customers who participated in the early testing of the product, including Galileo International, Nortel, Celo Communications and the Australian Stock Exchange.
