Exhibitors are backing up their praise by signing up at a high rate for next year's event. Show organizers recently confirmed that more than 75% of available exhibit space for 2005 has already been reserved.
Launched in 1997 and now firmly established in the heart of Europe's medical manufacturing industry, MEDTEC has become Europe's leading industry event for medical device producers. It attracts high-level visitors-such as R&D directors, manufacturing, process, product, project and corporate managers -- from Germany, Austria, United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Italy, Switzerland and various other European nations.
This year's show focused upon microtechnology in both its conference and exhibition. The former offered a full-day track on "Advances in Microtechnology and Nanotechnology" while the exhibition contained a PrecisionTec(TM) pavilion with leading CNC machining equipment manufacturers, EDM equipment suppliers, laser cutting and welding technology, as well as contract manufacturers in fabricating, turning, milling, cutting, grinding, extruding, rolling, and moulding precision metal parts for medical and other high technology industries.
Two other key product categories were showcased in pavilions of the MEDTEC exhibition. The Medical Packaging Pavilion presented the latest innovations in medical contract packaging, materials and capital equipment for medical device manufacturers, and the Drug Delivery and Pharmaceutical Packaging Pavilion offered buyers everything they needed to develop existing brands and new drug formulations in the world of controlled- release, rapid-dissolve, implant, and inhalation systems.
MEDTEC also featured expanded participation by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Two agency officials led sessions during the conference and participated in a "Meet the FDA" programme of individual meetings with visitors. William Sutton is with the Center for Devices and Radiological Health's (CDRH's) industry and international assistance programme, Marjorie Shulman, the Office of Device Evaluation.
