Passenger Car and Light Commercial Vehicle Market Showed an Increase of 51% in First 6 Months of 2015.
Passenger Car Market Increased 45%, Light Commercial Vehicle Market Increased 71%.
Turkish passenger car and light commercial vehicle total market increased 50.79% in the first six months of 2015 compared to the same period of the previous year, to 432,550. In the six-month period of 2014, a total market sales figure of 286,861 was reached.
Passenger car sales went up 45.21% in January-June period of 2015, compared to the same period of the last year, to 327,846. In the same period of 2014, the sales reached 225,773.
In the first six months of 2015, light commercial vehicle market increased 71.4%, in comparison to the year before, to 104,704. In the same period last year, the sales reached 61,088.
Passenger Car and Light Commercial Vehicle Market
showed an increase of 43% in June 2015.
June, 2015 passenger car and light commercial vehicle market reached 86,158. In comparison to the total number of 60,163 in June 2014 in the passenger car and light commercial vehicle market, the sales went up in a ratio of 43.21%.
In June 2015, passenger car sales went up by 43.34% in comparison to the same month of the year before and became 67,766.
Light commercial vehicle market increased 42.74% in June 2015 compared to June 2014, to 18,392.
In the first six -month period of 2015, an increase of 46.82% in the sales of passenger cars below 1600cc and an increase of 15.58% in the sales of passenger cars with a 1600-2000cc engine volume was observed. As for the sales of the passenger cars over 2000cc, an increase of 17.46% was observed. In the first six-month period of 2015, 12 electric cars below 85kW engine power and 30 electric cars above 121 kW engine power were sold.
When the average emission values of the passenger car market in the first six months 2015 are considered, the passenger cars between 100-120g/km took the largest piece of the pie with a ratio of 42.20% and with a number of 138,358.
In the first six-month period of 2015, diesel passenger car sales decreased to 59.88%, while the automatic transmission passenger cars had a share of 47.80%.
In January-June period of 2015, 84.06% of the passenger car market segment again consisted of the vehicles in the A, B and C segments whose tax ratios are low. When evaluated according to segments, Segment C with a share of 52.16% reached the highest sales volume (171,019). When evaluated according to frame, most preferred body type was again Sedan (49.36%, a quantity of 161,820).
In January-June period of 2015, when light commercial vehicle market is evaluated according to body type, Van's with a share of 71.46% had the highest sales volume (74,825), Light trucks followed them with a share of 12.28% (12,855) while the share of Minibuses was 10.52% (11,010) and the share of Pick-ups was 5.74% (6,014).
Passenger car and light commercial vehicle total market increased 50.79% in January-June period of 2015 compared to the same period of 2014, to 432,550 with a base effect.
In the second half of 2015;
- Expectation on interest-rate increase by U.S. Federal Reserve Bank (FED) in parallel with economic recovery,
- Decision to continue with monetary expansion by European Central Bank (ECB) in order to support economic recovery,

- Period following the general elections
will be decisive.
We foresee that the automotive industry's total market for the year 2015 to be between 900 and 950 thousand in quantity.

In comparison to the total number of 286,861 in the same period of 2014 in the passenger car and light commercial vehicle market, the sales went up in a ratio of 50.79%.
In June 2015, passenger car and light commercial vehicle market presented a sales number of 86,158. In comparison to the total number of 60,163 in June 2014 in the passenger car and light commercial vehicle market, the sales went up in a ratio of 43.21%.
Passenger car and light commercial vehicle market, in comparison to the average 10-year June sales, has shown an increase of 38.84%.
In the first six-month period of 2015, passenger car sales went up by 45.21% in comparison to the same period of the year before and became 327,846. In the same period last year, the sales reached 225,773.
In June 2015, passenger car sales went up by 43,34% in comparison to the same month of the year before and became 67,766. In June of the last year, the sales reached 47,278.
The passenger car market, in comparison to the average 10-year June sales, showed an increase of 58.03%.
In January-June period of 2015, light commercial vehicle sales increased 71.4% in comparison to the same period of the last year, to 104,704. In the same period last year, the sales reached to 61,088.
Light commercial vehicle market increased 42.74% in June 2015 compared to the same month of the last year, to 18,392. In June of the last year, the sales reached 12,885.
The light commercial vehicle market, in comparison to the average 10-year June sales, showed a decrease of 4.08%.
When January-June period of 2015 passenger car market is studied in terms of engine volume, the biggest slice of the pie was taken by passenger cars under 1600cc with a ratio of 95.78% and a number of 314,008. Passenger cars between 1600 to 2000cc followed them with a ratio of 3.34% and passenger cars above 2000cc with a ratio of 0.87%. In comparison with the same period of 2014, an increase of 46.82% in the sales of passenger cars below 1600cc and 15.58% in the sales of passenger cars with a 1600-2000cc motor volume was observed. As for the sales of the passenger cars over 2000cc, an increase of 17.46% was observed. In the first six-month period of 2015, 12 electric cars below 85kW engine power and 30 electric cars above 121 kW engine power were sold.

When the January-June period of 2015 car market is studied in terms of average emission values, passenger cars between 100-120 gr/km have the highest share of 42.20% (138,358) and following this, passenger cars between 120-140 gr/km have a share of 29.43% (96,470).

Diesel passenger car sales in January-June period of 2015 increased 39.19% in comparison to the same period last year. Diesel share in passenger car sales in the six-month period of 2015, when compared to the same period of 2014, has decreased from 62.47% to 59.88% (196,300).

In 2015 January-June period, automatic transmission passenger car sales numbers, in comparison to the same period in 2014, increased 52.16%. In 2015, automatic transmission passenger car sale shares in six months, in comparison to last year, increased from 45.61% to 47.80% (a number of 156,695).

In January-June period of 2015, 84.06% of the passenger car market segment again consisted of the vehicles in the A, B and C segments whose tax ratios are low. When evaluated according to segments, Segment C with a share of 52.16% has the highest sales volume (171,019) and Segment B follows it with a share of 31.23% (102,389).
In January-June period of 2015, when evaluated according to frame, most preferred body type was again Sedan (49.36%, a quantity of 161,820). Following Sedan passenger cars, Hatchback frame with a share of 31.68% and a sales volume of 103,849 and SUV with a share of 13.45% and total sales volume of 44,085.
In January-June period of 2015, when light commercial vehicle market is evaluated according to body type, Van's with a share of 71.46% had the highest sales volume (74,825), Light trucks followed them with a share of 12.28% (12,855) while the share of Minibuses was 10.52% (11,010) and the share of Pick-ups was 5.74% (6,014).

It is also estimated that Turkish automotive industry exports to Europe which is crucial for the Turkish economy will increase 1.5% in 2015 and 1.6% in 2016.
LMC Automotive has published 2015&2016 World automotive market estimations as of 2015, 1st quarter. According to the 2015, 1st quarter results, 2015 World total automotive market is expected to show an increase of 2.0% in comparison to the last year and reach a number of 92.4 M. In 2016, World automotive market is expected to show an increase of 4.8% and reach a number of 96.8 M in comparison to the last year.
LMC Automotive has published 2015&2016 World automotive manufacture estimations as of 2015, 1st quarter. According to the 1st quarter results of LMC Automotive, 2015 World automotive manufacture is expected to show an increase of 2.8% in comparison to the last year and reach a number of 93.3 M. In 2016, World automotive manufacture is expected to show an increase of 4.9% and reach a number of 97.9 M in comparison to the last year.
According to the Medium Term Program published in October 2014, Turkey's growth rate is expected to be around 4.0% in 2015 and 5.0% in 2016. According to April 2015 estimations of IMF, Turkey's growth rates for 2015 and 2016 are expected to be 3.1% and 3.6%, respectively.
