- All-New Eco-Friendly Recycler Mower Recycles Grass Cuttings in the Lawn, Helping Save up to a Third of Mowing Time - and the Planet
With recycling one of the hottest topics of the day, the all-new Multicycler lawnmower introduced this Easter by Toro couldn't be better timed. This innovative, eco-friendly walk-behind mower features Toro's special recycler technology that chops grass cuttings into tiny particles and fires them back into the lawn, hidden from view. There they decompose quickly to provide valuable moisture and nutrients. Toro says this produces a healthier, greener sward and reduces the need for watering and fertilisers.
It also means the Multicycler can reduce your mowing time by up to a third, says the manufacturer, as you don't need to collect and dispose of the cuttings. So no more stopping to empty the grass box, or to cart cuttings to the heap or bag them up. Worse still, running back and forth to the tip. In such case, you can become an even greener gardener by reducing amounts of green waste you send to landfill, a cause of greenhouse gases, as well as by cutting down on your vehicle journeys.
And if the grass gets too long for recycling to work, the Multicycler is also a great collector. The increased airflow and ultra-fine clippings you get from the patented Toro Recycler deck results in an extra-generous load of cuttings being compacted into the 60-litre grass bag on the back.
There are three Multicycler models from which to choose. All come with a 48cm (19in) sturdy steel cutting deck, ideal for small-to-medium-size gardens, and 190cc Briggs & Stratton petrol engine; as well as easy-adjust handles for a comfortable mowing position, and simple two-point height-of-cut adjustment for cutting between 25mm and 102mm (1in and 4in). They all have Toro's unique Recycle-on-Demand feature that lets you switch instantly between bagging and recycling modes by just the simple shift of a lever. When you're finished, clever quick-collapse fold-down handles allow for easy, compact storage.
Prices start at GBP399 including VAT for the Multicycler 48 HP hand-push model. The 48 AD version comes with the added benefit of Toro's AutoMatic Drive System. This propulsion technology automatically matches the mower's forward speed to the user's own walking pace. So when you speed up, the mower speeds up - and vice versa. It costs GBP429 including VAT. Both these recoil-start machines come with Toro's Guaranteed-to-Start Promise. If it doesn't start on the first or second pull for up to two years, they'll fix it for free. Those preferring electric start can opt for the 48 ES machine with Key-Lectric for GBP469 including VAT.
Kim Macfie, who heads up Toro Consumer Products in the UK, says: "This really is a great new mower for everyone who wants a machine that is not only very simple to use and gives a great cut, but has all the added time-saving and environmental benefits of recycling your grass cuttings in the lawn. You could say our red is very green."
The Multicycler is just one of a wide range of Toro recycler mowing machines that also includes the market's only electric recycler mower, the award-winning Eurocycler for small gardens, together with a large selection of other walk-power recycler and rear-bagging petrol machines, riding mowers and lawn and garden tractors. They are sold through specialist garden machinery dealers.
