<LI>Hot Wheels Continues To Track 15 Per Cent Sales Surge Worldwide
El Segundo, California - The popular Mattel, Inc. (NYSE: MAT) Hot Wheels&reg;
brand has announced the completion of licensing agreements with the top five
teams in Formula One (F1) racing, the world's most popular sport. Only through
Hot Wheels Racing will F1 fans be able to find multi-scale replicas of the
biggest names in the ultimate racing sport -- Ferrari, Jordan, McLaren,
Stewart-Ford and Williams F1. The multi-tiered licensing agreements extend
beyond toy cars to include a comprehensive line of adult collectibles, track
sets, radio control cars and electric racing sets thus becoming a one-stop shop
for Formula One adult replica collectibles and toy products.
The Hot Wheels brand's marketing success and continued sales growth served as
the platform to attract and execute licensing agreements with the top F1 teams
to launch the new racing segment.
Formula One continues to surge in popularity worldwide, boasting 300 million
viewers for each race. And Hot Wheels Racing is bringing the excitement of the
ultimate racing sport into the home, just in time for the holiday season. These
adult die-cast collectible vehicles are extremely detailed models of the most
popular F1 teams' cars, with 1/18th scale cars featuring opening fuel filler
caps, realistic tires and working steering.
&quot;Aligning ourselves with Formula One racing's elite teams gives us the
opportunity to create, for the first time, a complete product line that appeals
to kid and adult fans alike,&quot; said Matt Bousquette, president of
Boys/Entertainment at Mattel. &quot;These associations will help us continue to
build our international Wheels business which continues to track at a
year-to-year growth of 15 per cent on an annual basis.&quot;
&quot;We're extremely proud of the entire racing line that not only captures the
rich heritage but also the personality of these F1 teams,&quot; said Bousquette.
