King Alfred School Statement Regarding DfE Results
LONDON, January 28, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --
DfE has released results data for 2012 GCSEs and A levels. The GCSE data that DfE has issued for King Alfred School is incorrect. It currently shows that 43% of pupils achieved 5 + A*s to C last summer. We calculate that figure to be 95.7%.
The error has occurred because DfE has calculated our results as if 97 children sat the exams instead of the actual figure of 47.
When this data was originally collated, we were given the opportunity to scrutinise and correct this mistake. Amended information was received by the DfE, but the wrong data was published.
DfE has acknowledged the error and has confirmed in writing (see below) that they will revise the school's entry in the Performance Tables as soon as possible. We are working with the DfE to ensure that this data is amended so that it accurately represents our strong academic performance and, most importantly, recognises the hard work and achievements of our students.
