China's top leaders recently visited the French capital and during an important speech they gave at the UNESCO headquarters, stressed how cultural exchange is a vital impetus to the advancement of human civilization and world peace. As the sole representative of a private enterprise invited to give a speech at the opening reception, Shanghai Jahwa United president Xie Wenjian said, "The frequent cooperation between China and France has been the driver that inspired Shanghai to develop into a cosmopolitan city enjoying the reputation as the 'Paris of the Orient.' Moreover, Shanghai was officially nominated as the UNESCO City of Design in 2010. Jahwa will continue to appoint Herborist as a representative, integrating global resources to further strengthen the brand globalization of Chinese products."
Themed "It's Shanghai Time" and based on the axis of time, the exhibition displayed a day in Shanghai, integrating the design, architecture, and style of dress into six real-life Shanghai scenarios, showcasing in all aspects the historical changes as the city moved from the "Made in Shanghai" of the 20th century to the "Created in Shanghai" of the 21st century. The show manages to effectively display Shanghai's development as a center of creative design combining eastern and western influences.
During the exhibition, Herborist took on the role as an image ambassador of Chinese personal care culture in the "10 am Designer Studio" exhibition area, creating an artist's conception of the spirit of heaven and earth and telling the story of the mysterious aesthetic wisdom of the Orient. Xie said, "Cosmetics are a blending of science and art. The first class design and creativity add value to a brand. With Herborist's expansion into Europe, more western consumers are becoming interested in the eastern aesthetic wisdom represented by the brand. We expect this exhibition to help audiences become better acquainted with the aesthetics of Chinese traditional culture, bring about more eastern and western cultural exchanges and instigate more fusion of artistic styles, in a salute to the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between France and China."
The invitation to the "Shanghai: UNESCO City of Design" Week in Paris gave Herborist the opportunity and the venue to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the brand's entry into France. The exhibition allowed Herborist not only to bring the Chinese design with an international view onto the world arena, but also to write a milestone chapter of its steady development in Europe.
