FOX KIDS NETWORK LAUNCHES ITS FIRST-EVER EUROPEAN CHILDREN'S CHANNEL
Los Angeles, September 5 - Fox Kids Network, the top-rated children's broadcaster in the United States, continues its global expansion with the October 19, 1996, launch of Fox Kids Network in the United Kingdom, its first-ever European outlet, it was announced today by Margaret Loesch, President, Fox Kids Networks Worldwide.
Fox Kids Network in the UK will broadcast a diverse 13-hour schedule each day (0600hrs-1900hrs) consisting of live-action and animated comedy, drama and action-adventure programmes for children of all ages. In addition, Fox Kids also will programme up to seven hours of commercial-free educational series each week. The Fox Kids Network in the UK is the first international channel developed under Fox Kids Networks Worldwide's recent strategic alliance with youth-oriented entertainment company Saban Entertainment Inc.

The United Kingdom's Fox Kids Network will be the exclusive, first-run home for many episodes of the most popular children's series from its U.S. channel, including "Goosebumps", the top-rated U.S. children's programme, "Casper", the No. 1 new animated series for kids in the U.S. and the long-running U.S. hit, "The X-Men". The new channel will also be premiering for the first time in Europe new episodes from the hit international series Saban's "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" as well as the latest incarnation of the programme, "Power Rangers Zeo", the U.S. hits "Life with Louie" and "Spiderman" as well as the all-new live- action show Saban's "Big Bad Beetleborgs". In addition, Fox Kids Network also will feature programmes from Saban's extensive library of international children's titles, such as "VR Trooper", "Masked Rider" and "Samurai Pizza Cats."
Under the direction of Kim Hatamiya, Senior Vice President, International, Fox Kids Networks Worldwide, and Michael Yorick, Vice President, International, Fox Kids Networks Worldwide, the service will be broadcast on the same transponder as Sky 2, which launched September 1, 1996, with general entertainment programming from 1900hrs to 0600hrs. Sky 2 is transmitted on Astra 1A, Transponder 7, and received via Direct-To-Home and cable.
Fox Kids Network is the No. 1 children's programming service in the United States, amassing 14 consecutive sweeps ratings victories which span three years. Its 19 hours of top-rated weekly (Monday-Saturday) programming is seen by more than 30 million kids and teens each month. Fox Kids nationwide radio programme, Fox Kids Countdown, is currently broadcast on more than 180 stations representing nearly 80 per cent of the U.S. The kids magazine, Totally Fox Kids, is the most widely-read children's publication in the country, with an average of 13 million readers per each quarterly issue. Fox Kids programming is seen on Canal Fox in Latin America, with a full-service kids network planned for later this year. Fox Kids Network programming is also seen via Foxtel in Australia.
