Fanzo Closes $550k To Drive International Expansion; Launches Fanzo For Android
-- Fan-Trending News Now Available for Sports Fans Worldwide
SEATTLE, Oct. 14, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Less than a year after entering the United Kingdom with English Premier League and Champions League Channels on iOS, Fanzo is thrilled to announce an additional $550,000 in seed funds to accelerate growth in other countries through its corresponding launch of Android. This brings Fanzo's total funding to $1.5-million, to bring fans hot content on their teams, in one stream, before it trends in social media.
"American fans love their Fanzo College Football, NFL and MLB news feeds, but our International following is so strong it was a signal to us to go after this market aggressively," said Paul Ingalls, Fanzo Co-Founder and CEO. "For example, each fan in Australia reads an average of 140 sports stories daily, Manchester United fans read millions of stories a month and the European Football Channels drive a large portion of sharing and cheers."
With billions of pieces of social media content being shared monthly by reporters, fans and bloggers, it can be tough for fans to navigate the space in order to find the best news, photos and conversations. Fanzo helps by ranking this content and selecting only the most engaging posts to deliver to fans.
"Only posts fans love the most surface to the top and it's cool to see what those posts are, from historical stats, to recruiting news, game day celebrations and player shout-outs to fans," said Ingalls.
To date, Fanzo has ranked content from more than 100-million fans in social media. This fan generated content is influencer-curated in real-time. The content must achieve a certain score based on influence and engagement in order to break through the Fanzo threshold and appear in the app.
