Dr. Hans J. Langer states: "We are very honored by Vice Premier Ma Kai's visit and look forward to further intensifying our business relationships with potential local customers and partners as well as strengthening the dialogue with the Chinese government. EOS has a clear commitment to China which is one of our key growth markets. Over the last five years, we were able to grow our installed base from 10 systems back in 2010 to over 130 in 2015. Over the coming five years we expect a continued and substantial growth of the number of installed systems in this region." And he adds: "We also see a clear commitment to this technology by the Chinese government. Additive Manufacturing is a driver for change for the Chinese manufacturing world and as such supports China's evolution from a mostly factory-based economy to one built on high-end and high-tech manufacturing."
EOS - a German technology leader with a global footprint
In 2013, EOS expanded its global footprint and opened up a new office and technology center in Shanghai which enables advanced and much quicker support services to Chinese customers. The local team is headed by Jack Wu, Regional Manager China, and the service offerings include trainings, building of benchmarks, machine installation, maintenance and repair as well as technology demonstration. The technology center features a selection of EOS key metal and polymer and AM systems, including EOS M 290, EOS P 396 and FORMIGA P 110. Across China, EOS also has further service offices in Beijing, Chengdu and Shenzhen, operates with a broad sales network and cooperates with ten local distribution partners. Today, EOS in China sees the greatest market potential in industries such as aerospace, medical and tooling. With Additive Manufacturing EOS offers an enabling technology that helps local companies to expand their own market shares, at the same time providing them with a true competitive advantage.
Overcoming the limits imposed by conventional production techniques
Already today, the EOS technology benefits companies in a wide range of sectors as it supports customers worldwide in solving the most demanding challenges industry companies currently have. In many cases, EOS is developing adequate application solutions jointly with customers. Depending on application and industry, Additive Manufacturing reduces R&D times, weight, manufacturing costs and cycle times, at the same time feeding into the customer's sustainability targets, to name but a few advantages of the EOS technology.
As a layer-by-layer manufacturing process based on digital 3D CAD design data, and using polymer as well as metal powder materials, Additive Manufacturing enables a design-driven manufacturing. As such companies can overcome the limits normally imposed by conventional, manufacturing-driven production techniques. AM paves the way for a paradigm shift in design and manufacturing. AM is an ideal technology for making prototypes during the early development phase of a product, consequently accelerating product development and market launch. Today, the AM technology also becomes a valid alternative for small batch size serial production at reasonable unit costs.
About EOS
Founded in 1989 and headquartered in Germany, EOS is the technology and market leader for design-driven, integrated e-Manufacturing solutions for additive manufacturing (AM), an industrial 3D printing process. EOS offers a modular solution portfolio including systems, software, materials and material development as well as services (maintenance, training, specific application consulting and support). As an industrial manufacturing process it allows the fast and flexible production of high-end parts based on 3D CAD data at a repeatable industry level of quality. As a disruptive technology it paves the way for a paradigm shift in product design and manufacturing. It accelerates product development, offers freedom of design, optimizes part structures, and enables lattice structures as well as functional integration. As such, it creates significant competitive advantages for its customers. For more information please visit http://www.eos.info .
