In 2001, The Financial Services Authority (FSA) announced changes to the Listing Rules, enabling listed companies to publish regulatory information using a choice of regulatory information services (RISs). For the first time, listed companies had a choice of how to submit their announcements to the market, in compliance with UKLA, Panel and AIM market rules. A number of RISs were licensed to distribute regulatory news in accordance with the FSA guidelines. The changes to the dissemination of price sensitive news and the ending of the monopoly, Regulatory News Service of the London Stock Exchange, have been effective since April 2002. The changes had a substantial impact on those responsible for meeting the requirements of the UKLA rule 9.1, and its equivalents at the Panel on Takeovers and Mergers, and the AIM markets. The approved RISs can disseminate regulatory announcements to news vendors for publication. It is essential that providers have:
PIPs disseminate regulatory news to secondary providers such as Reuters, Bloomberg, Thomson Financial, AFX News, Dow Jones and Internet providers, e.g. Hemscott.net. These secondary providers collate all regulatory news from PR Newswire and other PIPs, making the complete range of announcements available on their systems. PR Newswire's Disclose service uses the very latest technology allowing us to process your jobs in a secure environment, quickly, efficiently and cost effectively." PR NEWSWIRE'S PIP STATUS PR Newswire is pleased to announce that we have been nominated as a Regulatory Information Service by the FSA, by the Panel of Takeovers and Mergers, and for the announcements of AIM companies. This marks the end of the London Stock Exchange's monopoly on the dissemination of regulatory news in the UK.
